On April 27, the Springfield Township Shade Tree Commission dedicated the official township tree in honor of Baird Standish of Wyndmoor. This tree was planted as part of the township’s 2024 Arbor Day celebration at Wyndhill Park in Wyndmoor. The white swamp oak, a native tree, honors Standish for his years of public service and devotion to the residents of Springfield Township as the Commissioner of Ward 5 for 20 years, and as past board chair and vice chair of the township Board of Commissioners. Standish is pictured third from right, while Commissioner Beth McNamara is third from left, and Commissioner Pete Wilson is second from right. All others are members of the Springfield Township Shade Commission.

Baird Standish, of Wyndmoor, was recently recognized for his 30 years of service to Springfield Township, including 20 years as a township commissioner and two-time president of the board as well as past vice president and long-term liaison to the Planning Commission, representing Ward 5. State Rep. Napoleon Nelson presented Baird with a commendation.
