The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from June 1 to June 11. (Some crimes that occurred on the dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.) 

Chestnut Hill

March 10. Theft.  A woman told police that $5,000 was taken from her safe in the 300 block of Willow Grove Avenue between March 10 and March 20 when contractors had access to the room and the woman said she saw them with the money.

June 3. Theft. Complainant told police that an offender came into The Foodery in the 7800 block of Germantown Avenue and grabbed the tip jar, but was stopped by police.

June 6. Aggravated Assault. The boyfriend of a patient being discharged from Chestnut Hill Hospital in the 8800 block of Germantown Avenue got into an altercation with employees at the hospital.

June 6. Theft and vandalism. A man told police that his wife parked the complainant’s car near the intersection of West Northwestern Avenue and Oak Road and when he returned a window was smashed and $20 and a red Izod bag was missing.

June 8. Shoplifting. A manager at the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue told police that an offender took $100 worth of items including Dove soap and left without paying for them.

June 8. A juvenile in the unit block of East Highland Avenue made a confidential rape report for an incident that occurred in the block.

June 9. Theft from Motor Vehicle. A man left his car unlocked on the 100 block of W. Bethlehem Pike and when he returned, his wallet containing credit cards, his ID and a social security care was missing.

Mt. Airy

June 1. Theft.  A woman in the 200 block of West Upsal Street reported that an offender took her package from her apartment building and security video has recorded it.

June 2. Motor vehicle theft. A man told police that his vehicle was stolen from the 200 block of East Gowen Avenue.

June 3. Theft.  A store employee at Queenie’s Pets in the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue reported that an offender took a dog leash and left the store without paying for it, after verbally harassing staff.

June 4. Shoplifting. Employee at the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue said a teenager came into the store and took food without paying for it.

June 5. Shoplifting. Employee at the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue told police four teens came into the store, left with $200 in snacks without paying for them and then fled in a gray Chevrolet Impala.

June 5. Aggravated Assault. An “advocate” for three juveniles who was leaving a program in the 100 block of East Johnson Street with the youth was approached by an offender who engaged in a physical altercation with the advocate, and then threw a rock through a vehicle window injuring the three young people.

June 5. Shoplifting. Store manager at Dollar General in the 6500 block of Greene Street saw offenders take items including Jergens lotion from the store without paying for them.

June 5. Shoplifting. Store manager of the CVS in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive told police a woman took $200 worth of hand cream from the shelves and left without paying.

June 5. Theft. Complainant in an apartment in the unit block of Roumfort Road told police she had made a maintenance request for her apartment and after the work was completed she noticed her Cartier diamond earrings worth $5,000 were missing.

June 5. Aggravated Assault. A woman in the unit block of West Allens Lane told police that an offender pulled her hair, pepper strayed her and cut her bicep.

June 6. Theft and vandalism. A man in the 300 block of Vernon Road told police his ex-girlfriend took $1,300 from him, a verbal dispute ensued between the couple and the man said the woman took a brick and smashed the rear car window of his GMC.

June 6. Fraud. A woman in the 400 block of East Sharpnack Street told police that an offender used her EBT card without her permission.

June 7. Theft. A man in the 200 block of West Sedgwick reported a gun missing after he had a business gathering at his home.

June 7. Theft from motor vehicle. A man in the 300 block of West Hortter Street said that he left his vehicle in front of his home and when he returned the lift gate was open and shoes were missing.

June 7. Thefts. A woman in the Pelham Apartments in the 200 block of West Upsal Street reported a package containing shoes was missing after Federal Express sent her a picture showing it had been delivered.

June 7. Thefts. A man in the 100 block of East Gorgas Lane reported that he left his backpack on the front porch and when he returned it was missing.

June 8. Shoplifting. Youth wearing dark clothing took snacks and drinks from the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them.

June 8. Shoplifting A director at the Acme Market in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue reported that an offender took $10 in tampons and left the store without paying for them.

June 9. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant who parked his car in the 200 block of West Upsal told police that he returned to find the vehicle missing.

June 9. An offender took items from a store in the 6500 block of Greene Street and left without paying for them.

June 9. Theft. A man told police that he left his guitar outside near the intersection of West Sedgwick and Sherman Streets and when he returned the guitar was missing.

June 9. Theft. An employee of Family Dollar in the 6500 block of Greene Street saw men take laundry detergent and leave the store without paying for it.

June 9. Theft from Motor Vehicle. A man reported that the rear passenger side window of his car, parked at the corner of Park Line Drive and W. Hortter Street, was smashed and an Under Armour Duffel bag containing airpods, a laptop and speakers, all valued at $3,000, were missing. 

June 10. Theft. A woman who lives in an apartment building on the 200 block of West Upsal Street saw on video camera footage that a package delivered for her was taken from a common area in the building. Police attempted to recover the package with negative results.
