The following is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from July 15 to July 28. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.) 

Chestnut Hill

July 14. Theft. An unknown person stole a man's wallet while he was hospitalized at the Chestnut Hill Hospital. 

July 15. Shoplifting. Four offenders entered a grocery store and stole items at the Market Square shopping center at the 7700 block of Crittenden Street A manager recovered a grocery cart from the offenders with items totaling $308.87. One basket was not recovered. 

July 15. Theft. A woman had her pocketbook stolen at Iron Hill Brewery by an unknown person at the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue. The offender used the woman’s credit card at the Wawa and Target on Ridge Avenue The offender charged a little over $700 to the card. 

July 20. Theft. A nursing supervisor for the Fairview Nursing Home reported approximately 38 oxycodone pills missing. An agency nurse signed out the medication for a male patient, but the patient never received his medication. The incident occurred at the 100 block of Bethlehem Pike. 

July 16. Identity Theft/Theft From Motor Vehicle. A man told police that an unknown person entered his unlocked vehicle and took his wallet at the 8500 block of Shawnee Street. The unknown person then used his TD Bank card, charging up to $95. 

July 16. Shoplifting. An offender walked into a CVS on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue and stole toothpaste. 

July 18. Theft. A man reported a missing ring while visiting his mother-in-law at the 500 block of West Gravers Lane. The complainant said he left the ring on the counter and when he returned, it was missing. Two house cleaners were present at the location during his absence. 

July 19. Theft. A man discovered that an unknown offender accessed his 2014 Nissan Rogue on East Chestnut Hill Avenue. A laptop and a camcorder were reported missing. 

July 20. Shoplifting. An offender entered a CVS at the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue and stole a number of items. The offender earlier had stolen from the store.

July 20. Theft. Sixty Oxycontin pills were reported missing at the Fairview Nursing Home in the 100 block of Bethlehem Pike. A supervisor at the nursing home suspects a night shift employee of falsifying documents and taking the meds. 

July 22. Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman found her car window and ignition broken in the unit block of Summit Street 

Mt. Airy

July 12. Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts. A woman reported the tags missing on her car on the 6300 block of Germantown Avenue. 

July 13. Vandalism. A complainant reported waking up and finding their Kia Optima with a broken driver's side window and damage to the steering column at the 6600 block of Greene Street.

July 14. Burglary and Vandalism. A complainant reported an unknown man forced his way through an apartment office door and stole a leaf blower and cordless battery on the 300 block of East Mount Pleasant Avenue

July 15. Shoplifting. A suspect entered a store at the 6500 block of Greene Street and left without paying for a number of hair products and soaps. 

July 15. A complainant told police that an offender injected a foreign substance into his buttocks at the 6600 block of Blakemore Street.

July 15. Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman reported her vehicle, a Suzuki XL-7, stolen from outside her residence on the 600 block of Hortter Place. There was no footage of the offense and the offender is unknown. 

July 16. Burglary. A man reported that unknown offenders gained access to his parked work vehicle and took ten duffle bags of construction tools. The incident occurred in the 600 block of East Durham Street 

July 17. Shoplifting. An offender stole chips, juice and snacks from the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue.

July 17. Shoplifting. An offender stole hair products from the CVS on the 6300 block of Stenton Avenue.

July 17. Theft. A woman was caught on video taking plants from the ground and putting them in her vehicle on a property at the 300 block of West Mt. Airy Avenue.

July 18. Shoplifting. An offender ran off after being stopped from stealing items at the ACME on the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue.

July 18. Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman reported that her Toyota Camry had been stolen from the 200 block of West Hortter Street.

July 18. Theft. An offender was caught on camera taking items from a vehicle and then leaving on a bike in the 1200 block of Barringer Street. Credit cards, Airpods, glasses and a Louis Vuitton purse were among the items missing.

July 19. Aggravated Assault. A man told police a woman tried to strike him with her car after getting into a verbal altercation in the 6400 block of Greene Street. She was supposed to drop the man’s daughter off at his home, but instead brought her to the location. The man claimed that the woman reversed into the stroller containing his daughter, leading to him punching the passenger side window. The man caught the incident on video and there were no injuries to the baby.  

July 20. Shoplifting. A woman walked into a Family Dollar in the 6500 block of Greene Street and stole an unknown amount of items. 

July 20. Shoplifting. Offenders attempted to steal various food items from the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue but were stopped by police. 

July 20. Shoplifting. An offender stole grocery items from a CVS at the 6300 block of Stenton Avenue.

July 20. Aggravated Assault. A man in the 200 block of East Johnson Street was maced in the face and slapped while he was in the kitchen. The offender was not on the scene when police arrived. 

July 20. Vandalism. An unknown man broke into the Germantown Church of the Brethren in the 6600 block of Germantown Avenue. The man walked around the property, turned on the lights and left without stealing anything. 

July 21. Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman reported her black 2017 Ford Escape stolen in the 200 block of W. Sedgwick Street. Police recovered the vehicle and arrested a suspect. 

July 22. Motor Vehicle Theft. A man found his passenger window and ignition broken after returning to his parked car near the Upsal SEPTA Station in the 6500 block of Greene Street.

July 22. Shoplifting. Two women entered the Family Dollar store in the 6500 block of Greene Street. and took food, clothing and hair products without paying. Police recognized one of the women involved. 

July 22. Theft. A man’s license plate was stolen off his parked car in the 6300 block of Chew Avenue. 

July 22. Vandalism. A woman reported finding her car with a broken window and steering column at the 100 block of East Sharpnack Street. Upon arriving, police found a man ripping the front bumper and headlights off the car. 

July 23. Theft. A property manager at the Pelham Apartments reported that she observed a man on camera breaking into a locked room and stealing several packages. The incident took place at the 200 block of West Upsal Street. 

July 23. Shoplifting. An offender stole paper towels from the CVS in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive. 

July 24. Theft. A complainant reported a package stolen off their front porch in the 100 block of West Gorgas Lane. 

July 24. Burglary. High Point Cafe staff reported a window and door open upon arriving at the store to open. Nothing in the store appeared disturbed or missing. The incident occurred in the 7200 block of Cresheim Road. 

July 24. Theft. A complainant reported a man taking an electric bike from a parking garage in the 6800 block of Emlen Street 

July 24. Theft. A woman found her car broken into and the steering wheel column damaged in the 200 block of West Upsal Street 

July 25 Theft. An offender entered the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and stole $200 worth of Red Bull energy drinks. 

July 25 Theft. Someone entered the Acme in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue and stole $508.64 worth of goods. 

July 25 Aggravated Assault. A woman on the 300 block of Vernon Road reported that her ex-boyfriend smacked her in the head to wake her up after seeing text messages from another man on her phone. When she tried to retrieve the phone he attempted to run her over with a U-Haul truck. 

July 26 Theft. Complainant reported that someone took a package that had been delivered to her home in the 200 block of East Hortter Street. 

July 26 Theft. An offender walked in the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and took items without paying for them. 

July 26 Motor Vehicle Theft. Complainant reported that someone broke the rear passenger window and steering column of her car, which was parked on the 100 block of West Johnson Street. They also took her registration card. 

July 27 Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman who parked her gray Kia Forte on the 7600 block of Stenton Avenue came out the next morning to find it gone. Air tags showed the car on the 6600 block of Musgrave Street, but it wasn’t there. 

July 27 Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman who parked her gold Hyundai Sonata on the 7600 block of Stenton Avenue came out to find it missing. 

July 27 Motor Vehicle Theft. Complainant parked her car at the corner of Germantown Avenue and East Duval Street and came out to find the window smashed and the ignition ripped out. 

July 27 Vandalism. Complainant observed a vehicle on the 100 block of West Cliveden Street with a smashed driver side rear window and broken steering column. 

July 27 Theft. A clerk at the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue reported that a regular customer came in and out of the stores bothering customers and cursing at staff for about 45 minutes, then took a cup of ice water and left without paying. 

July 27 Theft. A clerk at the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue reported that some offenders took $40.00 worth of merchandise and fled on foot.
