About 150 people turned out for Save the Train's third rally, held Saturday morning at the Chelten Avenue station, to protest the potential loss of the Chestnut Hill West regional rail line. Speakers included State Sen. Art Haywood, State Rep. Chris Rabb, City Councilmember at large Nina Ahmad, Jumpstart Germantown founder Ken Weinstein, and Weavers Way general manager Jon Roesser and Anh Vongbandith of Tipsy Cafe & Catering on Germantown Avenue, who are opening a new grocery store and a new cafe on Chelten. Kristen Clark, founder of the Germantown Arts District, also spoke and Tom Judd, a local neighbor, wrote and performed a song.

An early 1980s view of the original 1884 trestle spanning the Cresheim Valley. SEPTA cited the poor condition of the trestle as a reason to eliminate the Chestnut Hill West line in the 1980s until funding came through, and the trestle was replaced in 1989 with the steel and concrete bridge that exists today.
